The Rules of Korfball

The Main Rules

1. The ball is played with the hands only.

2. Controlled physical contact is allowed.

3. A player can't move with the ball in the hands.

4. A player can't take a shot if they are being 'defended'

(When the opposition player positions themselves in between the hoop and attached within an arm's length from

        the attacker)

5. The court is divided into two halves, players can't cross the halfway line. 8 players per team are on court divided over these two halves

(4 people of each team on side, of which 2 are girls and 2 boys).

6. Two positions are played, attack and defense. After every second goal scored both sides switch over to the other side of the court, changing their role from attacker to defender or vice versa.

The Korfball Court

Players can move behind the hoop, making a shot opportunity possible from 360 degrees around the hoop.

Note: Basketball and Netball courts are used for School Korfball.
