Wellington Korfball

Wellington Korfball is a growing sport club in the Wellington Region. Korfball is a fun & fast team game.

Our competitive social leagues are growing, and we aim to make it more popular with a good competitive edge to it. The club actively promotes a fun and have a go culture among all members.

Wellington Korfball has members who play because they enjoy the sport and they come together weekly. Because the sport is mixed gender there is a fun social aspect to it.

For those who want to play competitively, we have regular skills trainings throughout the year. We have 4 leagues throughout the year (based around the school terms).

For the talented under us there is the option to sign up and train for National competitions or a place on the New Zealand team.

ABOUT US

About Us

Wellington Korfball was born in March 2004 thanks to the efforts of Kirsty Prentice. Kirsty built a strong club with the help of a few Dutch imports and introduced the sport to a hard core of dedicated players.

In 2012 WKC worked with the Wellington City Council to include International level Korfball courts in the new ASB sports center.

This gives WKC some of the best Korfball facilities of any club outside of Europe.

Victoria University Korfball Club

Victoria University Korfball Club encourages students of all abilities to try Korfball with social and competitive games held during the year.

The club actively promotes social events off the court, organising pub quizzes, games and pizza nights.

Trainings are from 5:30pm Monday nights, Victoria University Recreation Hall, Kelburn Campus.

Let's Get Social

Since it's inception WKC has had a strong focus on providing a fun social club, with supportive coaching and challenging social leagues.

We also enjoy regular national competitions with our sister club in Christchurch, as well as local competitions with Victoria University Korfball.

WKC is currently working with the ASB sports center to develop a youth program, to grow the sport among schools and school aged children.
